The idea of a ‘big book’ involves in an in-depth investigation on a chosen topic. Based on the previous year of work and exploration in different parts of Communication Design, my interest was mainly in typography and I wanted to know a lot more about the history and the development of type design.

In this ‘Big Book of Type Design’, I explored the history of type classifications, studied well-known typefaces and designer, and did several case studies of contemporary type-related issues.

For instance, the type design trends in brand identity, interface design, way-finding, as well as the use of typefaces in prints.

The book was also an exploration in book binding which I purposely bind the book in hard cover to achieve the ‘big book’ theme.
